Western Canadian Music Awards and Tiga Talk
October 19th, 2008 - Awards, shows and updates
Well,
it seems everytime I post here I am amazed at how much time has flown
by and there is no expection on this post. I am out in Edmonton at the
moment for the Western Canadian Music Awards. I am currently sitting
in my friend Scott Ward's basement scanning in photos for an upcoming
music video.
So here's the news, starting with the most recent to the oldest :)
NOMINATED in the WESTERN CANADIAN MUSIC AWARDS
AND THE CANADIAN ABORIGINAL MUSIC AWARDS
Yup,
I'm pretty happy about this. We find out tonite how we do in the
WCMA's so if you happen to read this in the next two hours, keep your
fingers crossed for me. I'm certainly up against some pretty stiff
competition so we'll just have to see what happens. AND THE CANADIAN ABORIGINAL MUSIC AWARDS
FINISHED THE SCORE FOR TIGA TALK
Whew,
that was a lot of work but I'm really pleased with how the music turned
out in the end. Tiga Talk is a 6 episode original series set to
commence broadcast on ATPN in November of this year. The project went
well and I picked up a few new skills along the way including learning
how to mix in 5.1 Surround Format. This caused me a few sleepless
nights trying to get my head around the 'down-conversion' requirements
of the mixing but in the end I got the hang of it. There are some
beautiful pieces of music that came out of the program and I look
forward to posting some of them for you to hear in the near future. GENERALISMS
I've
been busy otherwise and life out on the coast has been treating me
well. I've been watching the meltdown of the financial markets with
quite a degree of interest. It will be interesting to see what
opportunties emerge as a result of this downturn. I've also been working hard to refine my live set. I am experimenting with some live looping stuff and incorporating my laptop and Reason/Live into my set. This is done in the hopes that I will be able to fill out a live sound more fully as a solo act. I played my first show with this technology last night and all and all it went pretty well. It will be really good for me musically and for future work is I can get the hang of some of this stuff as I will be able to incoporate more of my electronic/Blue Arbutus background into my sets...quite exciting.
So, that's it for me for now. I hope you are all doing well. Ry
